Jim has been with Thorson • Baker + Associates since its inception in 1993. With over 30 years of experience in structural design, he is responsible for the management of the structural CAD/Revit department, CAD standards and making certain project schedules are achieved. Jim also serves in the capacity of IT systems administrator overseeing the firm network infrastructure providing system support, system documentation, updates, security, back-up methodology and software management and updates.
Dave joined Thorson • Baker + Associates in 1994. His dedication, positive attitude and willingness to help others has earned him an associate position at TBA. Dave is responsible for implementation of network systems upgrades, applications, user interface and trouble shooting. He provides assistance in recommending new electronic equipment and equipment upgrades. Dave also maintains network equipment, servers, work stations, plotters, printers, phone system and personal electronic devices.
Since joining Thorson • Baker + Associates in 2001, Laurie serves as an Electrical Department Team Leader. She is responsible for the production of electrical construction documents from project inception through and including construction administration. Laurie’s experience in the electrical design of commercial buildings includes conceptual design, preparation of construction documents and energy code compliance documentation, and assistance in project closeout. She also specializes in lighting design, providing support for electrical project managers and designers on projects where specialty lighting design is a requirement.
Rich joined Thorson • Baker + Associates in 1997 as one of the first members of the Electrical Department. He serves as an Electrical Team Leader. Rich's primary responsibilities include managing national retail programs for the firm, developing and maintaining client relations, as well as, working closely with staff overseeing production of electrical construction documents, energy code documentation and construction administration.
Bryan Melvin joined Thorson • Baker + Associates as an Electrical Design Engineer in January 2006 and quickly advanced to the level of Senior Project Manager, and to Associate with the firm. Bryan is responsible for client relations, project administration and the management and preparation of construction documents. With more than 15 years of combined experience in engineering and construction, he takes an active role in projects from inception through design, construction documents, and construction.
Since joining Thorson • Baker + Associates (TBA) in 2007 as an EIT, Cole has received his PE license and assumed the role of Structural Senior Project Manager. Cole’s project experience with TBA includes healthcare, commercial and educational projects. Cole has been the lead engineer on multiple Revit projects, as well as multiple projects that are vibration sensitive. Cole has also worked on projects utilizing the Integrated Project Delivery (IPD) and LEAN construction practices. In March of 2019, Cole became an Associate.
Cory Webb joined Thorson • Baker + Associates in 2007. He began his career as a design engineer right out of college. During that time he learned the skills and methods necessary to produce a comprehensive set of construction documents. Currently Cory is a project manager in the electrical department. He is involved in all aspects of a project from conception through design and administration. Cory has an active role in client relations, project administration and management of the Electrical department. Included in his position is the responsibility of guiding and providing support for design and project engineers. Cory was promoted to Associate in March 2020.
Justin joined Thorson • Baker + Associates, in 2014 and serves as a Senior Project Manager in the Electrical Department. He is responsible for the production of electrical construction documents from project inception through construction administration. Justin’s experience in the electrical design of commercial, education, retail, high-rise, multi-family, and parking structures includes conceptual design, preparation of construction documents and energy code compliance documentation, and assistance in project closeout. He also provides electrical design support for electrical project engineers and designers.
Since joining Thorson • Baker + Associates (TBA) in January 2008 as an EIT, Mike has received his PE license and assumed the role of Structural Senior Project Manager. The extent of his involvement includes structural design, preparation of construction drawings and specifications, and construction administration. Mike’s project experience includes corporate, medical, commercial, hospitality, public, industrial, and retail projects. He works directly with the architect to coordinate engineering services, address questions in the field, and meet schedule and budget benchmarks. Mike was promoted to Associate in March 2020.
Nate joined Thorson • Baker + Associates, Inc. (TBA), in October 2005 as Structural Design Engineer and quickly advanced to the level of Senior Project Manager. His experience includes project schedules, structural design, preparation of construction drawings and specifications, construction administration, and computer applications. Nate’s project experience includes corporate, medical, commercial, educational, and public projects with a concentration on large retail projects. In March of 2018, Nate was promoted to Associate.
Patty joined Thorson • Baker + Associates (TBA), in April 2001. Responsible for structural design, detailing, material procurement, and production management, her structural designs include a variety of steel, concrete, and masonry structures and reinforced concrete foundations.
Patty’s project involvement includes project schedules, structural design, preparation of construction drawings and specifications, construction administration, and computer applications.
Richard (Rick) joined Thorson • Baker + Associates (TBA) in 2011 as a Senior Project Manager in the Mechanical Engineering Department. His 35 years of mechanical engineering and commissioning experience includes the design and Commissioning of HVAC and plumbing systems, electrical and sprinkler system condition surveys, system and facilities evaluation and planning, design and specification writing and information technology support.
His experience with a former firm included seven years as manager or director of engineering with responsibilities of staff training for REVIT Parametric Modeling and Trace Building Energy and cost-op analysis. Rick was promoted to Associate in March 2020.
Since joining Thorson • Baker + Associates (TBA) in 2019, Eric serves as Associate and Senior Project Manager in the Mechanical department. He is responsible for the production of mechanical construction documents from project inception through and including construction administration. Eric’s experience in mechanical design of commercial, residential and assisted living buildings includes conceptual design, preparation of construction documents and energy code compliance documentation, and assistance in project closeout. He also provides mechanical design support for mechanical project engineers and designers.
