TBA provided structural engineering services for the modifications to 300,000 SF of the existing Higbee Building to be renovated into the Horseshoe Casino. This circa 1930 building is in the National Register of Historic Places. Floors on this 86 year old building were analyzed to determine their strength and capacity to support numerous slot machines.
Adjustments had to be made to the building’s layout to include new stairs, and vertical transportation. The existing framing of the building was modified, infilling existing floor openings and adding new openings to accommodate added stairs, escalators and elevators. Support structures were added to support the custom chandeliers in addition to steel framing to support special shelving in the bar areas.
TBA also provided structural engineering services for the Horseshoe Casino’s dedicated parking structure and 180’ pedestrian bridge to the casino. Located adjacent to the casino, the temperature controlled valet area boasts a brickpaved driveway and offers 1,300 parking spaces. New elevators give guests easy access to the casino.
